  • Murdoch transforms his Graphizer concept into a Seismometer (coined by David Milne-Home, 1841) based on the instrument that measure motion of the ground, including those of seismic waves generated by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and other seismic sources, designed by Scottish physicist James David Forbes.
