|Fred Ott's Sneeze|
Fred Ott's Sneeze is a 5-second 1894 film. It was the first film to be copyrighted in the United States. The film features Fred Ott, one of Thomas Edison's assistants, taking a pinch of snuff and sneezing.
By 1895, the film had made it to Toronto where constables at Station House Four enjoyed watching it on William Murdoch's Kinetoscope. Inspector Thomas Brackenreid was disdainful of the film. He felt it was a vulgar entertainment compared with Shakespearian theatre ("Body Double").
