Countess Fausta a.k.a. Sally Smoot, is introduced in Season 2 of Murdoch Mysteries, portrayed by Mary Walsh.

- Sally is brought in for questioning because of a tin of pills found in the victim's lodgings. Her Russian/East European persona soon evaporates when Inspector Brackenreid confronts her, and it's discovered they have history. While her pills may be "harmless" she does refer women who need an abortion to doctors who would provide the service.
- Dr. Ogden asks permission from Inspector Brackenreid to interview Sally Smoot in her cell to help solve the mystery of how the victim bled to death.
