Attack of the Scarabs is the fifth episode of Murdoch Mysteries: The Curse of the Lost Pharaohs.

Summary Edit

Murdoch and George head to the police station, however, George senses shadows following them.

Meeting with the Niagara inspector, he confirms that a threat has been growing in his city, and believes that the murders in Toronto are connected to it. He also states that the threat is hiding underground, and suggests looking near the Falls themselves.

However, the inspector is about to give them a warning when the lights go out.

Assuring the pair it's just the electricity, the inspector suddenly gives a gasp of pain. Lighting a lamp, Murdoch and Crabtree discover that the inspector is dead, and the creature that caused it left two mysterious puncture marks on his neck.

Fearful of what may be hiding in the darkness, George suggests they leave, but William points out that since they're unarmed, they wouldn't make it very far.

As an ominous skittering fills the room, Murdoch takes the rifle behind the inspector's desk and directs George to see if there's any whiskey in the drawer. Finding it, Crabtree questions Murdoch's actions, to which he responds he's getting them out of there.

Murdoch uses the alcohol and gun to create a makeshift flamethrower, which is able to destroy the mechanical scarabs and ensure their escape. However, George insists that they must make sure Sanura is safe as well, as it is possible she may have been targeted as they were.
