Alexander Graham Bell (1847 – 1922) was a Scottish-born scientist, inventor, engineer, and innovator who is credited with patenting the first practical telephone. He was a prolific inventor well-known for inventing the telephone, the Harmonic Telegraph (which led to the telephone) and working on improving the Phonograph.
When Helen Keller remembered the first time she met her future benefactor Alexander Graham Bell as a child, she wrote that she felt he understood her and she "loved him at once."
